ODM Bench Vise Development - From Your Idea to a Market-Ready Vise

No drawings yet? Our in-house engineers design the body, jaws, finish and packaging around your brief - then build, test and mass-produce it. Prototypes in 7-12 days, production in 25-35 days after confirmed PO.

Straight answer

ODM development starts from your brief, not your drawings: body design (material, jaw opening, throat depth, swivel range), jaw material and hardness spec, surface finish and graphics are engineered in-house, validated by prototype samples in 7-12 days, and produced at standard volume MOQ of 50-200 units per batch for medium-duty vises (pilot from 20-50 units). Production runs 25-35 days after confirmed PO and deposit; custom pattern tooling adds 15-20 days. CE, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001 and RoHS documentation ships with every order.

ODM Capabilities

Everything you get when the design work happens in the factory, not at your desk.

Body & Jaw Design

Body dimensions, jaw opening, throat depth and swivel range engineered to your target application and market - from a blank page or from our proven platform library.

Material Engineering

HT200/HT250 gray cast iron body, 45# forged steel, GCr15 or Cr12MoV hardened jaw specification at 58-62 HRC specified and validated for your design.

Graphics & Branding

Surface finish, paint color, logo placement and retail packaging developed by our in-house design team around your brand.

Pattern & Tooling Development

New body castings start as pattern tooling designed and cut in-house - tooling adds 15-20 days to the project timeline.

Prototype Validation

A physical prototype is built, tested and sent for your review - usually within 7-12 days, with dimensional and hardness verification.

Testing & Compliance

Clamping force, jaw hardness, swivel torque, 10,000+ cycle durability and 48-hour salt spray testing per unit, with CE, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001 and RoHS documentation for export.

Tooling Ownership Options

Pattern ownership or buyout clauses written into the contract - your design stays yours, and tooling is kept for reorders.

From Prototype to Shipped Order

A validated ODM design moves straight to standard-volume production: 50-200+ units per batch, 25-35 days after confirmed PO.

What We Develop Around Your Brief

ODM means the product is designed for you from scratch or from our platform library - these are the levers your brief controls:

  • Application profile - light-duty workshop, medium-duty industrial, heavy-duty fabrication or specialty pipe work
  • Body material - HT200 gray cast iron, HT250 heavy-duty cast iron or 45# forged steel
  • Jaw specification - GCr15 hardened steel (58-62 HRC) or Cr12MoV tool steel for heavy applications
  • Jaw opening and throat depth - dimensions matched to the target application and workpiece size
  • Swivel base - 360-degree rotation with lock mechanism, or fixed base configuration
  • Surface finish - paint, powder coating or Parkerizing in your brand colors
  • Accessories and features - anvil surface, pipe jaws, quick-release mechanism, hardened face plates
  • Packaging and retail presentation - retail boxes, displays and export packing under your brand

FAQ

ODM Development Questions

How does ODM differ from OEM?+

ODM (Original Design Manufacturing) starts from your brief - our engineers develop the body structure, jaw specification, finish and packaging, whether from a market concept, performance target or adaptation of a proven platform. You approve the design before production. OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) manufactures to your approved specification - your drawings, dimensions, materials and packaging. You own the design and IP. Both run through the same plant, QC system and export team; ODM is the fastest path to a branded vise when you do not have a design yet.

Send a short brief: target applications, use cases, size range, markets and volumes. Our engineers come back with a concept, a reference vise direction and a development plan within one business day - an NDA is signed before any detailed exchange when requested.

Prototype samples ship in 7-12 days. A new body with custom pattern tooling adds 15-20 days of engineering before samples. Production runs 25-35 days after PO and deposit.

Standard volume production runs 50-200 units per batch for medium-duty vises; pilot runs start at 20-50 units on existing platforms. Heavy-duty and specialty vises run 20-50 units minimum. See our MOQ & Flexible Branding Guide for the full calculation.

Your brief, design and tooling are protected by NDA, brand licensing terms and pattern ownership or buyout clauses written into the contract. Tooling is kept for your brand and transferable.

Yes. Our engineering covers all main vise categories - light-duty (2"-5"), medium-duty (6"-8"), heavy-duty (8"-10"), pipe vises and specialty configurations - with clamping force and durability validation for each.

CE (EN ISO 12100, Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC), ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001 and RoHS. Certification documents are prepared per order for your export markets.

The ODM Process - From Brief to Scaled Production

Six controlled stages run by the same in-house team that designs, samples and scales your vise - everything stays documented.

  1. 01

    Brief & Concept

1 business day · Share target applications, use cases, sizes, markets and volumes - or just an idea. · Our engineers return a concept direction, platform options and a development plan.

  2. 02

    Body & Material Design

Week 1-2 · Body dimensions, material grade, jaw specification and swivel range engineered in-house. · Surface finish, branding concept and packaging developed around your brand.

  3. 03

    Pattern & Tooling

+15-20 days (new castings) · Custom pattern tooling designed and cut for new body castings; existing platforms skip this stage. · Tooling ownership terms are fixed in the contract before cutting starts.

  4. 04

    Prototype & Sample

7-12 days · A physical prototype is built, tested and sent for your review - dimensional and hardness checks included. · Sample (1-2 units) validates body, jaw spec and branding before volume.

  5. 05

    Validation & Approval

In parallel · Clamping force, jaw hardness, swivel torque, durability and salt spray tests per production line. · CE, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001 and RoHS documentation prepared for your export markets. · You approve the prototype; PO and deposit lock the production slot.

  6. 06

    Production & Delivery

25-35 days · Standard-volume batches run 50-200+ units per batch; pilot runs from 20-50 units. · Export packing, FOB/CIF/DDP shipping to 50+ countries and reorder support included.
