How a German hardware brand built a sourced heavy-duty bench vise line with HT250 castings, CE certification, and full quality documentation.
A German hardware brand approached Stavalk with a clear requirement: a heavy-duty bench vise line for the professional European market, in 8" and 10" jaw widths, that could hold its own on a shelf next to established German tool brands. The commercial criteria were demanding — CE marking as a baseline, full quality documentation, dependable lead times, and a price point that left margin for a two-tier retail strategy.
The specification
The project locked in HT250 grey cast iron bodies for their higher tensile strength and damping in industrial use, combined with 45# forged steel jaws induction-hardened to 58–62 HRC. The closing screws were machined from 45# steel with a precision-cut acme thread profile, and each design included a swivel base with hardened locking components. All models carried CE marking, with the product technical files prepared against the relevant machinery harmonised standards.
Engineering and samples
Because the brand planned a multi-year program, we invested in dedicated patterns for the two jaw widths early in the project. Samples went out in 12 days with the cast-in brand logo, and the approval loop covered three revisions on jaw insert geometry before the design freeze. The brand's engineers ran their own clamping force and swivel torque verification on the samples; both results matched our factory test certificates.
Production and quality control
First production ran at factory capacity over a 30-day window. Each series was batch-tested — hardness on every jaw lot, clamping force against the datasheet values, swivel torque, and a 48-hour salt spray check on the powder-coated finish. Pre-shipment inspection by the brand's third-party agent passed without non-conformities, and every carton carried the CE mark alongside the brand's own retail artwork.
The result
The line launched in Germany and Austria in the first quarter of the year, and the brand has since reordered three times, adding a 6" model to the same framework order. For the brand, the project removed the risk of sourcing heavy vises without European compliance documentation; for Stavalk, it is a reference program we use when European distributors ask about heavy-duty OEM work.
